Summer means longer days, holidays and more time outdoors, but increased sun exposure, heat, travel and changes to your routine can all affect your skin.

Pigmentation may become more noticeable, skin can feel dehydrated or congested, and your usual skincare may need a little adjustment.

The answer isn’t necessarily more skincare, it’s understanding what your skin needs.

SPF really is non-negotiable

A broad-spectrum SPF should be worn every day, not just on holiday. UV exposure contributes to premature ageing and pigmentation, so protecting your skin is one of the most important things you can do.

Remember to reapply throughout the day, ideally every few hours, particularly when spending time outdoors.

Hydration still matters

Even if your skin feels oilier during summer, it can still be dehydrated. Heat, air conditioning, flights and sun exposure can all affect your skin barrier.

The right products can help maintain hydration without overwhelming or congesting your skin.

What about retinol & active skincare?

Retinoids and exfoliating acids can be brilliant for skin quality, pigmentation and texture, but they need to be used carefully around increased sun exposure.

If you’re a patient of ours and going away, speak to us. We can advise you on what to continue, what to adjust and when to restart your usual routine.
